Motor Speech Conference

The lab will be presenting two posters related to our Speech-in-Masks studies this Saturday (February 19, 2022) at the Motor Speech Conference in Charleston, SC. Gursharan Badh, second year graduate SLP student, will be presenting “The Impact of Face Masks on Spectral Acoustics of Speech: Effect of Clear and Loud Speech Styles”.

ASHFoundation New Investigators Research Grant

Thea recently received the 2021 American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation New Investigators Research Grant! This grant will support the project “Prominence and communicative intent in dysarthria.” Read more about this funding mechanism here.

ASHA AARC Award

Thea was selected as a recipient of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association’s 2021 Advancing Academic-Research Career (AARC) Award! This award supports the academic-research careers of early career faculty through mentored research and teaching activities.

LabPhon17

Thea will be presenting a poster entitled “VOT voicing contrast is robust along a speech rate continuum in dysarthria.” LabPhon17 - hosted virtually by the University of British Columbia July 6 - 8.

Motor Speech Conference

Dr. Thea Knowles will be presenting a poster entitled “Acoustic changes along a modified speech rate continuum” at the Motor Speech Conference in Santa Barbara, CA this Thursday (February 20, 2020).
